CARTEN100 2022 Fundraising and 'Spokes Foundation'
Every year as part of the planning process the CARTEN100 crew consider the many appeals for support from charities across Wales.
Our Main Charity Appeal Launched 2022 is with LATCH
If we all support the one worthy cause, we can make a difference. Just £100 raised by each rider could raise 200k in one year! Having raised over a million pounds to date we want to continue to choose charities that will really mean so much to so many people and make a difference.
This year we have chosen LATCH. The charity supports the children who are receiving treatment for cancer at the Children’s Hospital for Wales and their families. Their catchment area stretches from Chepstow in the South to Aberystwyth in the North where an unbelievable 70 new cases are diagnosed every year.
NEW - 2022 CARTEN100 Launch The "Spokes Foundation"
“Making our miles matter by supporting the communities we cycle through along the South Wales corridor”
Our key aim is to work with local charities, community led groups and sports clubs who would benefit from our funding to make a difference to the communities they serve. We aim to support a wide range of projects with grant amounts totalling anything from a few hundred up to £10,000.
We want to ensure the CARTEN100 pound benefits the local communities that support our riders. CARTEN100 has grown over the last 19 years with huge support from these communities and as we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020/2021 we want to ensure that they can directly benefit from our funding.
For 2022 the Spokes Foundation will be supporting charities chosen by our Trustees, Sponsors and Stakeholders.
Who can apply?
The CARTEN100 Spokes Foundation will consider grants to charities, community groups and sports clubs along the route of the CARTEN100 but also from Gwent, so covering the whole of South Wales.
We will not support grants to individuals.
How to apply to The Spokes Foundation for a grant?
Applications for CARTEN100 2023 will open on 1st April 2022 and close on 31st August 2022.
Applications can be made from this website below.
We will let recipients know if they have been successful after the 1st November 2022 and announce to the public with the launch of the ride later that month.
Who are the Trustees?
Madeleine Palmer (Chairperson)
The Board of Trustees will meet 4 times a year to decide which applications will be supported and how much the grants will be.
How you can help!
CARTEN100 has two main objectives, to set an achievable challenge for novice riders to encourage them to become fit and enjoy cycling, and to raise money for good causes – in 2018 we celebrated a million pounds raised.
