CARTEN100 2022 - Frequently Asked Questions

Plenty of hints and tips to help you get the most from the day’s event.

What do I need to know before attempting the CARTEN100 cycle?

Riders are usually of mixed ability and often new to this type of distance, so we encourage everyone to do some training for a few weeks prior to the ride to prepare the legs and backside! Preparation of your bike is also essential as punctures and mechanical failures tend to happen to bikes which have not been in use for a while. If you do come across any problem stopping you completing the ride, the support crews will do whatever they can to help you to finish.

Why the name - CARTEN100?

CARdiff to TENby is 100 miles so CARTEN100.

Where does the ride start?

We have arranged to start the event at one of the most iconic locations at the City Hall in Cardiff. Riders will be started in blocks of about 40 from 7.30am, which will take about an hour to complete, so no hurry.

Where does the ride finish?

The CARTEN100 will finish in Tenby’s Tudor Square in the heart of the town. The square will be closed to traffic and your friends and families will be able to cheer you in safely, before you all head down to the harbour to collect your finishers T-shirt and complimentary pasta meal.

What if I finish Earlier?

The finish will be open from 1.00pm, so if you arrive before then, well done, but the CARTEN100 is not a race and we don’t time riders, so enjoy your day and help support the riders coming in after you.

What about insurance?

To ensure all riders and organisers are protected, we have registered with British Cycling. This gives access to Event Insurance protecting riders, stewards and organisers against any unforeseen circumstances. This cover is only 3rd Party, so please make sure you have sufficient cover of your own if you need it.

Where can I get a sponsor form from and where do I send the money?

The main charity CARTEN100 is supporting in 2023 is Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity (NACHC). Download a Sponsor Form here.
You can manage your donations online or you may post donations directly to our chosen charity using our Cheque Return Form and official Sponsorship Form. Please visit our
charity page for more details. Please remember to click on the Gift Aid if appropriate as the fee to JustGiving is then taken from this contribution.

I want to stay in Tenby overnight, can I have some help with my luggage?

Your luggage can be transported to Tenby and collected at the finish, just ensure you attach the completed luggage label supplied in your entry pack with your name, ride number and mobile number. ALL LUGGAGE IS CARRIED AT YOUR RISK.

Sigma 3 are providing the luggage lorry in 2022. They will be found in the Ride Village in front of Cardiff City Hall.

In Tenby, your luggage will be looked after by the Tenby Sea Cadets. You can collect your luggage from their base overlooking the sluice in Tenby harbour.

How you can help!

CARTEN100 has two main objectives, to set an achievable challenge for novice riders to encourage them to become fit and enjoy cycling, and to raise money for good causes – in 2018 we celebrated a million pounds raised. If you'd like to learn more about sponsoring our annual event and the amounts we have raised for charity each year so far, please get in touch!
