Carten 2023
A classic CARTEN100 ride, a gentle breeze, sunny and dry. Saturday 20th may 2023 had 1850 riders making their way to Tenby via the usual stops in Baglan, Burry Port and Tavernspite, finishing up in Tenby Harbour.
Some were fundrasing for Noah’s Ark Children’s hospital charity and over £40,000 has been raised, along with about another £40,000 for other charities chosen by riders themselves.
2023 Charities
Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity was the main charity for 2023, but via the Spokes Foundation we also raised funds for Pembrokeshire Care, Share and give, Multiple Sclerosis Cymru and Kids Cancer Charity
Applications from small local charities, organisations and groups along the CARTEN100 route are welcome to apply for a donation from the Spokes Foundation. The trustees of the fund will select suitable applicants and award funds as they see fit from the fund.
Other charities and organisations to benefit in 2023 include:
- Tenby Sea Cadets
- Baglan Boys and Girls Club for their help in hosting us for a refreshment stop
- Burry Port RNLI for their help in hosting us for a refreshment stop
- Carmarthen Athletic RFC for their help in hosting us for a refreshment stop
"Classic" CARTEN100
CARTEN100 2023 had all the favourite parts: good weather, gentle wind and 1850 riders enjoying the day. The ride started from Cardiff City Hall and finished in Tenby Tudor Square, with the riders being hosted in Tenby Harbour at the Scott’s Pavilion by Tenby and District Lions. A free meal was available to all riders, as well as a well stocked bar to quenchh the thirst!
Pure West Radio provided the soundtrack to the day in Tudor Square, with the DJ’s welcoming the riders as they came into town, along with the riders families and friends who kept the cheering and clapping going all afternoon right up to the last arrivals in the early evening.
Relaxing after a long ride in was at it’s best with riders using the harbour walls to relax in the sun and discuss their achievements. Riders received a CARTEN100 snood for their efforts as well as an opportunity to get a poster or spare shirts and T-shirts.
